Tehran is willing to reinitiate nuclear negotiations with Washington provided that it is treated with "respect" and "honor", Tehran's foreign minister has stated.

Abbas Araghchi declared solely negotiations produced results, and shared recent overtures had come from go-betweens to restart negotiations with the Trump administration. He asserted Iran had zero secret atomic facilities, and Tehran had not yet reached a point to authorize the International Atomic Energy Agency to visit attacked atomic facilities for security reasons.

Walking a Challenging Path

Araghchi is navigating a difficult course since Iran wishes not to be perceived to be operating from a situation of weakness, and he emphatically stated that Iran had come out more resilient in military terms and emotionally from the coordinated strike on its atomic facilities in June.

He was speaking at a defense forum in Tehran where he reaffirmed that Iran had "a fundamental entitlement to process nuclear material on home soil that it will perpetually retain" – the main reason of the deadlock in the prior discussions.

Earlier Discussions Unexpectedly Ended

The earlier sessions of negotiations between the United States and Iran were brought to an abrupt and bitter end on 12 June when Israel, with US support, attacked Iran's enrichment centers in a two-week conflict that concluded with the US president asserting the facilities had been destroyed. Subsequently, European countries exercised their privilege to restore international penalties, but Iran insists they have not had a substantial consequence.

Perfect Agreement Proposed

Iran's diplomats claimed they felt they had achieved a "ideal resolution" to the enrichment issue in earlier negotiations, when it was decided an Iran-based consortium with Washington's engagement could process nuclear material. Both sides would have been able to claim victory since local refinement would have remained and the US could be certain that Iran's nuclear programme was entirely non-military.

It had not been decided in the talks that American atomic experts could function on Iranian soil, but that was a logical implication of the partnership suggestion. Representatives stated on multiple occasions they had achieved a deal with Trump's special envoy the US official only for the deal to disintegrate due to "opponents in the US".

Present Position

Tehran representatives stated the cooperative arrangement was now withdrawn, but it seems very probable the offer could be reintroduced in certain ways if discussions restart.

The US president last week claimed he had been receiving messages that Iran wanted to resume discussions, but in private Tehran representatives say they are not yet getting consistent overtures from America either directly or from significant local go-betweens, such as Qatar, Egypt, Oman and the Saudi kingdom. The Iran's state department has been accused of non-responsiveness in the aftermath of Trump's direct instinctive approach, but Tehran states diplomacy is not part of a performance.

Diplomatic Stance

In his speech to the conference, designed to paint the US as a hegemonic power that abuses the concept of global regulations, Araghchi declared the 12-day war demonstrated the conflict could not be ended by combat operations. He said the assaults commenced with a US demand for an unconditional Iranian surrender and ended with an unconditional call for a halt to hostilities.

Iran is certain the first strikes by Israel were executed with total Washington understanding and cooperation, making faith challenging to restore.

Negotiations Remains the Ultimate Resolution

Araghchi said: "Tehran was not the one that had abandoned negotiations; it was America and the Western nations that had repeatedly attempted to impose their will during the negotiations. Diplomacy can still be alive and stays the ultimate resolution to address disagreements, but its standards, guidelines and fundamentals must be followed."

"If they talk to the citizens of Tehran with the approach of respect and respect, they will get a reply in the identical approach."

Repair and Recovery

In what is characterized by Iranian officials as the conflict of repair and rebuilding, the foreign minister stated he was confident Iran's military capacities "have significantly improved than prior to 13 or 14 June of this year. Every aspect of our defense have been reestablished. We gained many lessons from this conflict; we have come to know our personal limitations and the weaknesses of the adversary."

He added: "We effectively endured this war. Our nuclear technology, which they planned to destroy, continues to exist. The installations and gear, if damaged, will be rebuilt; what is crucial is the determination of the Iranian people and then the unity of the country that they sought to undermine, but failed to destroy. The Iranian people have developed more powerful, more united, and more endorsing of the administration and the nation in the aftermath of this invasion."
