Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Has Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Defeat

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was expected for doubts to be raised about his position following a further convincing loss versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in twelve games, representing the club's worst run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got significant backing from the top,” the coach remarked.

“It would be nice to turn it around and secure a win naturally but when you're working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that people question you.”

He continued, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to elaborate on his conversations with the team officials, the head coach explained:

“We talk a lot. They assist for the squad and to me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “During our regular conversations we have I feel the belief. But I've not talked to them after this match so far so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Failings and Player Reaction

The manager highlighted familiar weaknesses from his team in their European loss, namely missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” Jones stated.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't have to wait to consider it. I’m past being angry inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's tough because I’m playing for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a phase of this nature with results so bad.”

He stated, “But we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And as long as it is gone, we will always fight.”

“We’re going to try to help the side back to where it needs to be, prove again what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the top club in the world.”

“At this moment, things are bad and it needs to change.”
