Former Doctor Accused of Sexual Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Patients

Prosecutors have stated that a former doctor stands accused of committing sexual assaults against 38 individuals who were patients.

The Grave Allegations

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – including acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.

A deputy chief prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Investigation

These allegations come after what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

The charging documents outline the 45 sexual offences he is charged with:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
